Sneezing is a sudden and involuntary violent expiration preceded by inspiration. During sneezing, the mouth generally remains closed, so that the current of air is directed through the nose.

Sneezing normally occurs due to some irritation in the mucous membrane of the noses or the paranasal sinuses. It is commonly due to some allergic substances which may be eaten or inhaled. A cold draft of air or a cold humid weather precipitates sneezing. Dust, chemicals, smoke, pollen in the air can trigger sneezing. Eating certain food stuffs like ice-cream, cold drinks, banana, curd can induce sneezing attacks.
